It’s been a stressful week

I’m trying desperately to get the blog up to date but I seem to be still writing about the first weekend in April. It’s starting to feel like the world is conspiring against me to stop me getting it done.

I want to find time to sit and write but I have about a million important things to sort out all at the same time.

Friday was supposed to be my resignation day but due to being off sick with excruciating period pains (honest!!) on Wednesday I have pushed it back until Monday. It is now Thursday and I still haven’t even thought about writing my resignation letter, let alone printed the Korean Labor Standard Act in preparation for the inevitable battle or worked out exactly what I’m expecting to be paid. I also need to get in contact with the Korean labour board to make sure they are aware of what is happening BEFORE i resign and I need to contact John from i-to-i to make sure that, despite the UK not giving a shit, he is prepared to call my boss and give him what for if he does take the million won!

On top of that I promised the Korea Times a story weeks ago and now they want it for next weeks edition, so I have a deadline on Sunday. But so far I haven’t been unable to get hold of anyone that speaks English at the place I’m writing about!

Then, because I resign next week it was time to sort out all the flights on the round the world (Asia) ticket. STA travel in Korea is only open when I’m at work (or on Saturdays but they’re closed for a national holiday this week then I’m away for the next two), hence the period pains on Wednesday. I called STA in England before going to STA in Korea to get flight availability then went into Seoul to book the flights. When calling the UK I was disappointed to learn that the flights home Bangkok to London were booked up for the 10 days running up to my final departure date, but we decided to settle for coming home on the 21st Feb instead of the 29th. The the STA in Korea managed to find availability on the 29th Feb (our last possible day) but failed to reserve it. So after spending over an hour there yesterday Kat went back in today to pick up our tickets to find the only flight available back was now the 10th of January, six weeks before we were due to fly home. If only the stupid woman in the travel agent has reserved them at the time our problems would have been avoided.

To make things just that little more stressful they decided to charge us twice what they were told by the UK it would cost for changing our tickets, refusing to hand them over until we paid. Also we still haven’t changed our London to Bangkok one because they couldn’t get the dates. So we will have to pay to change that at a later date. That now means changing our tickets will have cost three times more than it was supposed to! GRRRRR!

I am a little concerned that we can’t get a flight home. The woman in Korea advised us to call in December to see if there were any cancellations! Yeah right cause they are all booked 10 months in advance we’ll get tickets two months in advance! She can’t be on this planet!

I’ve been home this evening and spoken to a guy at STA in the UK who confirmed there wasn’t any availability in February but advised me to deal direct with Qantas because they will be able to do more than he can – lets hope, hey!

Well, now I’ve had my moan. I’m gunna concentrate on something I’m supposed to be doing – I’m going to go home and sleep.

Over and out until I’m in a better mood!
