This country never ceases to amaze me. This time I can’t believe how sexist it is. Superiority of the male and all that!

I have just left a lesson (one of the classes I hate cause they won’t speak to me) where two middle school boys were writing a few sentences about whether they would rather be male or female.

I marked their work to find that one the kids had written that he would rather be female than male because females don’t have to military service – in Korea it is compulsory for all men. He added that it would be “difficult” to be a female because they don’t have a “working place” – meaning a career. But he’d would rather be “female and needy than early dead”!!!

Can you believe it? As if he thinks all females are needy, and being female is only preferable to being dead! No wonder classes of solely boys are so hard to teach, women don’t appear to be afforded any status here!
